Controversy sparks Société Générale takeover raids

One week after Société Générale
(SocGen) revealed nearly €7 billion in unforeseen losses, the focus has
switched to potential bidders for France’s number two bank. Rumours of takeover
raids have been echoing in French financial circles and media reports, with the
country’s top bank, BNP Paribas, attracting most of the
attention.
